The table is 45" in diameter.
It will accomodate at least 54" of leaves.
It has 5 legs.
I'm not positively sure what type of wood this is.
Dan at Up the Creek assures me it is crotch mahogany. I'm not convinced that it isn't Cherry.
The top is soliid, not veneered. It is a lot thicker than most tables we've owned in the past.
Each table half is made of a single board. That is not common!
The unflattering picture doesn't show it, but the figure and grain are truely superb.
The skirt is book matched burl veneer.
Each skirt end fits together in a tongue and groove - I've never seen on like this.
The casters are screwed on, not socket inserts - this table has some age.
.It could likely date before the Civil War. Possibly a lot earlier.
We've sold dozens of nice tables over the years, and this one is unlike any other we've ever owned.
